Sad but true

I saw this girl sitting at a tree crying today. When asked why she was so sad, she told us, she was going to get married. For us this would be a happy day, but not for her. Especially because she was only 14 or 15 years old (she did not know her exact age). Sad, but true, this happens every day in Bangladesh, and there's not much one like me can do about it.

Let's keep fighting for girls' education and strengthen their families' income, so they can "afford" to not having to put their daughters through early marriage.

And change is happening! Some years ago this girl would have been 11 or 12 years old...

Hopefully the girl's daughters won't have to face the same destiny.
